My RCD keeps tripping, should I keep resetting it?

No, repeated tripping usually means a fault that could be unsafe. Leave the circuit off if you can and unplug appliances on that circuit. Call an emergency electrician to isolate the cause and complete proper testing and repair.

What should I do if I smell burning from a socket or switch?

Turn off the power to that circuit at the consumer unit if it is safe, and do not use the outlet. Keep the area clear and avoid touching the plate if it feels warm. Contact us immediately so we can inspect for overheating connections and make the installation safe.

Can you restore power if only part of my home has gone off?
