How long does a soft link replacement take?

Can I keep using the toilet if the soft link is leaking?
It is best to avoid using it until it is repaired because even a slow leak can soak flooring and cause rot or staining. If you must use it briefly, place towels to catch water and avoid repeated flushes.
Will replacing the soft link stop bad smells in the bathroom?
